Shooing Away the Crickets

. . .Brushing off the dust . . .

. . .Clearing the cobwebs . . .

Let’s just say it’s been awhile. First, by way of explanation: my last post was on August 6, 2017, and 38 days later, my first daughter was born. As you can imagine, my life changed drastically.

Fast forwad: in a few days, my little girl will turn 3. It’s been a wild 3 years. It’s certainly had it’s share of adventure, including a few National Parks, a trip to a remote island in the Indian Ocean, and a trip to Europe with a toddler. I hope to share all of these with you in time.

For now though, my family has been rethinking our priorities when it comes to adventure and travel, and how we want to share our story. An ongoing conversation for the last 3 years is figuring how to balance life, work, and still make adventures for our little one, especially with (spoiler alert) another kiddo on the way. We’ve hit lots of roadblocks in our first three years (cough cough COVID) but also found a lot of good resources and still been able to raise our girl with a good helping of adventure.

But we want to go bigger and that brings us to this post. There will be a few changes going forward that I think will make this site more fun for us and more helpful and entertaining for you.

  • My lovely wife, Tory, will be joining me in posting. We share a lot of parenting and travel ideas, but she’s been travelling a lot longer than me. She’s also been building a business to help us achieve our goals and has lots of insight to share. I adore her, and so will you. As our 2-year old says, “Mama, your voice is music to my ears.” I think you’ll like what she has to say too.

  • We’ve been kicking around a BHAG* for awhile . . . taking a year off to travel the world. We have a plan now, and have been sticking away savings. But we’re nowhere close yet. We’ll be providing regular updates on our progress. I think the accountability will help us keep track, and hope we (you, dear reader, and us) can reach our BHAGS together.

  • We’ll start posting more about travelling with a family. It has been a big change, and we’ve learned a lot, and we want to share what we’ve learned. I’ll still post big adventures I have on my own.

There will be more, including a face-lift and eventually a new site name. I hope you like it, and if you don’t let me know what we can do better.

This weekend I have a 3rd birthday party to attend, and our first new post will follow shortly thereafter. Sorry again for the absence, and thanks for the second chance.
